NICOLE BURKE

Now a Brooklyn resident of 6 years, Nicole Burke was born in Hong Kong to a Moroccan mother and American father. She recognizes her multicultural upbringing as the source of her inspiration for her life’s work as a nomadic designer. Nicole has explored various avenues of art and design including clothing, jewelry, handbags, graphic design, illustration, painting and hot glass. She got her start in the fashion world at the age of 16 when she sold her first collection at Pat Field’s in NY. While she continued her clothing line for about 4 years, Nicole expanded her efforts and began to work for other clients including Oscar de la Renta, Liz Claiborne, Nautica, Gap, Fossil, Steve Madden, Ecko Unlimited, Rome Snowboards and many others doing everything from trend forecasting and art directing to designing textiles, garments, accessories, and even lingerie.

In all of her travels throughout the fashion world, Nicole always felt there was something missing, so in the spring of 2004, Nicole Burke and Toby Hansen began to formulate the plans for their new design-based charity-business venture called “Kayon”. Nicole hopes that with “Kayon” she can now pair her love for design with her strong calling to help make a positive change in this world.
